When life serves you lemons, you make lemonade. When life serves you roast beef and rolls, you make sandwiches. When life serves you pasta with a pesto sauce, you put it next to your sandwich, because pasta doesn’t go in sandwiches.
That would just be silly…
So on the same trip to florida, on my mission to get a sandwich in at every meal, I had to improvise a little. There was cheese and crackers, but that doesn’t really count for a true sandwich, and there was a roast beef station. They also didn’t have any knives left when I got up there, so I decided to just go ahead and make my sandwich for the evening….
i took a roll, which was firm on the outside, but not crunchy, and tore it apart with my bare hands. Then i took a couple of slices of the roast beef right off the roast, and tossed it on the bread. The jus came next, and it completed the simple sandwich. Nothing fancy, just a couple of bites, but it was a good compliment to the pasta. The meat was a little on the fatty side, and could have used either a slightly thinner cut for stacking, or more surface area for an open-faced but overall, it was decent. Any sandwich is better than no sandwich!
